The tastes of Korea are, in a word, bold. Spices common to other
Asian cultures such as soy sauce, garlic, ginger and sesame seeds
are typically used as the base ingredients. But what gives Korean
food its distinctive flair is the liberal use of red chili. The
art of pickling is highlighted in some of Korea's famous dishes
which bring these spices and various vegetables into perfect harmony.
Meat is also wonderfully prepared, whether it is stir fried, boiled,
or even barbecued.
